Entrances Are Everything

Updated: May 7, 2021

Today we're all about entrances and how energy enters and flows through your home. It is how the life force or "chi" energy enters your space and supports you and your life -- this is critical. We only want alive, healthy energy flowing into and through our homes. In the same way, air needs to enter your body through your mouth; air needs to enter your space through your door. The most important thing about entrances is to make sure your entryways, doorways, and hallways are not blocked. If there is clutter, your life force or "chi" energy is blocked. To start, we look at several things, like:

  • Front Door - are there things in front of it like a bike or carriage?

  • Entry Way - do you leave all your shoes out instead of having someplace to store them or put them away?

  • Doorways to Rooms - is there something in front or behind the door that blocks the door from opening fully or being able to with ease?

  • Hallways - are you using them to store things instead of finding homes for them?

Take a walk through your home, starting with walking from outside your front door or entrance to your home to the inside entryway, hallway or foyer, and look to see where you have "things" (aka clutter) like:

  • Carts, shoes, boots, sports equipment

  • Piles of books, papers, boxes that you need to go through and decide what to do with them but never find the time

  • Heaps of things are waiting to go out or come in, but you haven't found a home yet or not sure where to put them, so keep them there.

Then start removing or clearing the things that are blocking your entrance, doorways or hallways, one location or item at a time. It's important to do small steps, so you don't get overwhelmed -- this will help set you up for success. And as you begin to do this, and some clutter gets freed up, you may find you will feel better and want to do more! AND you will feel the difference in how energy enters your home, and flows, through hallways, and enters your rooms.

Please feel free to share any insights or results. I would love to hear from you! #EverydayFengShui. It's all right here.

With love and blessings, Kate
